Broken cups and plates......

If you have ever stumbled upon a little beach along the river Thames, and you look closely,  amongst the general modern day rubbish of plastic bottles and all manner of other delightful and unmentionable pieces of detritus, there will probably also be scatterings of little pieces of broken pottery, ceramics and glass.  A small piece of blue or pink will catch your eye, and before you know it, you're seeing pieces everywhere.  (willow plate seems to be the most common...!).  you can find some beautiful pieces with tiny flowers, faded blue designs, stripes, letters.....  I love to imagine who used to eat and drink from them when they were whole plates or entire cups....  What was the table like?  Was there a family around the table?  And now here they are - washed up amongst the pieces of old glass and stone and fishermen's pipes.  At home, I sort it into boxes - willow plate, plain, lettered, striped, mulitcoloured...

The following are pictures made with, driftwood, broken pieces of pottery and ceramics:-
