Is there life on Mars?
Last weekend we packed up our rucksacks with food a plenty and set off early in the morning on the high tide to kayak to an Island in the Medway near Hoo. It was a bit of a struggle getting up to catch the tide, as we had the pleasure of staying very late at a party the evening before, but still, there was exploring to be done and so no time to indulge in a hangover!

So setting off in this uncharted territory, there was of course the usual flotsam and jetsam caught in the rocks. A small bottle caught my eye with some paper in it so I put it in my ruck sack and then over lunch, opened it with trepidation. There were 2 notes, and one was from a Martian!

Zib Zob's letter with Hollie Wade's signature and date on the back! Here is the translation just in case you can't make out the Martian handwriting:-
"Hello you Human, I am Zib Zob and I am from Marz. I have been learning about Humans and How they wright. Zib Zob X"
It's interesting to see that some of the words in Martian are spelt differently to Human :). Interestingly, on the other side of the paper, there was another signature by what looks like a human - Hollie Wade, and I suspect there were at least two humans accompanying Zib Zob, as there was also a second note, from a human (or maybe they are Martian girls!):

The notes are quite recent (dated 14th April 2014) and so we kept our eyes open for other signs of Martian life. Perhaps Zib Zob, Holly and Rose were living on the Island somewhere?! Well we didn't find any little green men despite all our searching, BUT we did find these little creatures and so perhaps they are Zib Zob, Holly and Rose!

So we haven't quite solved the mystery of the authors of this little note, but if anyone knows Hollie Wade, do let her know that her note was found, or if you see 3 Martians wandering around in the Medway, please tell them to get in touch. I'd love to hear from them!
