I've got a bit of a backlog of messages to write about and so I thought I'd sit down and work my way through them. I'll start with this message of doom in a bottle....... Now imagine, if you will, that you have had the most wonderful walk along the coast or the river, you feel completely uplifted, and you are greatly appreciating all the beauty surrounding you. You've had a great picnic, little flocks of waders are zipping around looking for places to feed, the oyster catchers are echoing in the distance.... Butterflies fluttering, bees buzzing....Life is good. The world is a beautiful place, and you feel very grateful to be alive! You're heading home to make some a delicious dinner, and possibly open a bottle of red wine...... ok, so you get the picture? Blissful day and all is well. AND THEN......
....And then, yes, that's right, things take a turn for the worse. You spot a bottle with a note in it. Excitement turns to perplexedness and bewilderment, when you are told in no uncertain terms that.... actually, you are surely going to hell!
Well, this message certainly was a conversation stopper! I will share a secret with you. I actually have a faith in God, and I can tell you now that the God I believe in wouldn't have many followers if all his supporters spoke to people like that! I mean, come on Mr K Barratt, where's the love?! What about the "good news"? You are hereby sacked as God's PR man!! What's that about getting more with honey than vinegar? Plus, it's a bit cowardly sticking these threatening words in a plastic bottle and chucking it in the river. Instilling fear into people isn't the solution I personally do not think! I met a very nice Vicar at a craft fair on Saturday and I would feel far more inclined to visit her church than venture within 100 miles of Mr Barratt's scary fire and brimstone ranting. Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox now...I was going to add another message, but I think this one deserves a section all to itself. Quoting the paragraph below, also in the bottle "..... fast dying, polluted, perverted, violent world.....". Yes, there is bad out there, very bad stuff, but there is also a wealth of goodness and love out there too.
Needless to say, we didn't let it spoil our evening, and a few days later, we found this interesting piece of plastic paraphernalia washed up on the foreshore.
Certain messages that we try to put across are perhaps more effective with less words!
Peace, love and blessings to you all (including you Mr Barratt!).
